ELG Gin No. 3 - Drink suggestions
A Gimlet drink is also known as a gin-sours, which is a super delicious and refreshing drink. Sour-sweet cocktail - perfect for everything from parties and cocktail parties, to just before dinner, and to almost any other occasion - maybe not just for breakfast, though… It is a strong drink, but also one of the minimalist author Ernest Hemmingway's favorite drinks. The drink originated in the 19th century together with "Navy Strength" gin, when England's Royal Navy was to sail for many months. Lime juice, and its vitamin C, was shown to have a preventive effect on scurvy (a disease you get when you lack vitamin C) - so they mixed the juice in their 57% strong "Navy Strength" gin, together with sugar, for that it could last for several months and taste good. How to make your perfect Gimlet:
Recipe:
- Come nicely with ice in the glass
- Add 2 cl ELG Gin No. 3
- Pour in 3 cl squeezed lime juice
- Add 2 cl of syrup
- And finally; come a slice of lime
“Navy Strength” Tonic - a citrus:
A real sailor's gin & tonic. With this 57% gin, you can really sense the taste notes that are in - like citrus notes and aroma.
- First of all: Do not forget the ice cubes!
- Then add 2 cl ELG Gin No. 3 i
- Add 8-10 cl tonic (possibly FeverTree Bitter Lemon Tonic, and you get the lemon really nicely)
- And finally, a slice of lemon
ELG Sweet Tea Martini - No. 3:
The picture shows an ELK Sweet Tea Martini - for the late evening hours. Once again; really British, and probably something they would have enjoyed out at sea in the 19th century Royal Navy when their Earl Gray had gotten cold. Enjoy!
- Add 1 cl of your ELG Gin No. 3
- Now pour 2 cl of cold Earl Gray tea
- Now add 1 cl Martini Extra Dry vermouth
- And finally; 1 cl rich sugar syrup
