You may have heard of Sloe Gin and thought: "Sloe Gin, what's that?".
Sloe Gin is one of the most British things there is when we talk about drinks and alcohol. Especially in the countryside, Sloe Gin is popular.
Sloe, or "slåen" in Danish, is a bitter (very bitter) berry that only grows in the wild. When the fruit ripens in the autumn, it is placed in a sugar syrup, after which the bitter taste disappears - and you are left with the fantastic marzipan-like taste that characterizes Sloe Gin.
But how do you drink sloe gin? Well, besides enjoying it chilled and neat? A number of ELG Spirits friends have sent in a series of recipes in connection with ELG's Sloe Gin recipe competition.
We often hold competitions on our FACEBOOK. Here we raffle off a bottle of ELG for the best recipe.
